about

The Festering Sessions:
Basically there was always a continuous recording session in progress referred to as ‘Festering.’ composing, performing, and recording every musical thought, whether it deserved it or not. The sounds recorded ranged from anything from water dripping from a facet, clanging on ashtrays, blasting white noise through a blown speaker, playing a ripping guitar lead, heavily processed and/or distorted keyboards, or someone ranting poetry. Some of the recording techniques were primitive to say the least, using headphones for a microphone or doing multi-tracking by playing more than one tape deck at a time. This was before home computers and digital audio workstations so these were the techniques at hand to use. Any person or persons visiting the recording session would be asked to perform some kind of musical piece. It didn’t matter if they knew how to play an instrument or had any musical talent, they were asked to play something for recording. Some of the names and faces have been forgotten, but here is the first of four volumes of these sessions.
